Suicide Girls is a site that gets an A+ for originality. I can’t say how this site was started, but now the Suicide Girls are a big part of mainstream culture. From their traveling burlesque show to their website, the Suicide Girls are taking over many forms of media and they’re bringing a lot of stars along for the ride.
So, what are the suicide girls all about? The site features a mix of pinup punk rock and goth girls. Nudity is involved, but somehow it’s tasteful enough that the mainstream media doesn’t scorn it. Suicidegirls.com has turned into an online magazine type of site more than anything else. Along with the photos and videos that are behind the doors of the member’s area, there are tons of free features to keep you coming back on a regular basis. These features include interviews with celebrities, access to the database of member’s that have profiles and journals, groups, bulletin boards, and information about Suicide Girls events.
Now, let’s get to the juicy stuff. The member’s area of Suicidegirls.com is where you really want to be. This is where you’ll get to see gloriously candid photographs of all the punk rock girls that are featured there. You can browse the photosets by favorites, most recent, by girl, location of the girl, and even by photographer. They great thing about the girls featured here is that if you find a local one you can probably spot her at a Suicide Girl burlesque show in your area. Most of the girls are highly interactive with the site. They keep their journals and update their profiles – kind of like a hipster pornographic MySpace community. You have to understand this: it’s cool to be a suicide girl, not shameful. The girls love posing for pictures and expressing themselves in many different ways on the website.
Although this site is based mostly on photosets, there are also some videos and other features thrown into the mix. Other features include photos from the shows, multi girl sets, and even some celebrity sets. Suicide Girls may very well be the first Indy Playboy type of publication very soon.
As for the quality, it’s just excellent. The lighting and resolution of all the photos are excellent. The girls all fit into that Indy look and although some aren’t my cup of tea, most are very attractive. With a site like this, quality is not a concern at all.
If you like very interactive softcore pornography featuring punk, urban, and Indy girls, this site is by far your top choice. When Woody Allen sits down and does an interview for an online publication, you know it’s worth checking out. End of story.
